PAUSED MEETINGS

Unfortunately the Village Hall were unable to provide the required equipment for our pre booked meetings, approxe half our meetings in 2023 were disrupted due to double bookings or missing tables, cable, projector equipment. So the operating committee decided they could not provide the equipment any more and cancelled the meetings as per their email below.

Wednesday 27th March 7.30pm Barlaston Village Hall – Dr Peter Thomas is an extremely well respected lecturer and we are delighted to welcome him to Barlaston to give us a talk. He is truly an expert on trees, forests, plant clocks and so much more.

I have been at Keele since 1986. My first degree, BSc (Hons) in Biology from Exeter University was followed by an MSc in Ecology at Aberdeen University. After working for a year, I moved to the University of New Brunswick, Canada supported by a Commonwealth Scholarship to work for a PhD on the regeneration of trees after forest fires. While at Keele I have spent sabbatical periods as Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta, Canada and as Bullard Fellow at Harvard University, USA.

We are ‘Cashless’. We use SumUp to take card payments, but we also use QR codes to speed up transactions. So it would be very helpful if you could download the SumUp Pay app and login to it before arriving at the meetings. It means you can make transactions with just one click of your phone for things like plant sales, purchases, memberships etc. Don’t worry if it sounds confusing, just ask us about it when you come along.

It’s ALWAYS FREE to attend your first meeting, so why not come along to see if you like it first, bring along a friend for free too.
